Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 1023,
and attached Bill No. 317, report as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 317 is to amend Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995
Edition) by authorizing a freight loading zone along Kalakaua Street in front of Kalakaua Kleaners
and eliminating an existing freight loading zone in front of Hawaii National Bank.
Communication No. 1023 is from Deputy Chief Engineer Jiro A. Sumach, dated October 5, 1998,
requesting authorization of a freight loading zone along Kalakaua Street fronting Kalakaua Kleaners.
Mr. Sumach states that a loading zone is currently in effect at this location but not listed in the
Hawaii County Traffic Code.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 317, and recommends that it
pass first reading.
