CONIlVIITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND PARKS
DATE: April 1, 1997 RE: COMM. NO. 206
PLACE: Councilroom
TIME: 9:04 a.m.
Chair and Members
Hawaii County Council
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 206
and attached Bill No. 61, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 61 is to amend chapter 24, article l0, division 2, section 24-266,
schedule 14 (Through Streets), subsection (c), items (7) and (76) to indicate the presence of
four-way stops in through streets, Baker Avenue and Pua Avenue.
Communication No. 206 is a letter from Donna Fay K. Kiyosaki, Chief Engineer, dated
March 12, 1997, which transmits Bill No. 61 to the County Council for its consideration. In
Communication No. 206, Ms. Kiyosaki states that four-way stops have been installed at the
intersections of Baker Avenue -Desha Avenue and Pua Avenue -Desha Avenue. Consequently,
the Chief Engineer requests that section 24-266, which presently provides that these streets are
through streets, should be amended to reflect this change.
No testimony in opposition to this bill was offered.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 61 and recommends that it
pass first reading.
