Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 276
and attached Resolution No. 78, reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 78 is to recognize the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
(RSVP) for its twenty-five years of service to the community. This Resolution honors the RSVP
and its 1,136 volunteers for the more than 150,000 hours of service that they have graciously
donated to the community.
Communication No. 276 is a memorandum from Council Chairperson James Arakaki dated
April 24, 1997 which transmits Resolution No. 78 to Committee Chairperson Dominic Yagong.
Chairperson Arakaki stated that adoption of Resolution No. 78 will signify that the County
Council has gone on record as recognizing the value of this program. Your Committee joins
with Council Chair Arakaki in extending its thanks and congratulations to the Retired Senior
Volunteer Program as this worthy program celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary.
Your Committee reports that it is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 78~and
recommends its adoption.
