Re: Operating Budget and
Resolution Authorizing County to Enter into an Agreement
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance appropriating $150,000 for a Special
Operations Grant.
Also enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement
with the U.S. Department of Justice, for an esoteric project with emphasis in
lowering the property crime rate.

A. REQUEST: - To create an account entitled "Special Operations Grant" for $150,000
under object code 115.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL. SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The U.S. Department of Justice is providing funding to conduct a special
operation on the Big Island with particular emphasis in lowering our
property crime rate. We are reluctant to provide further information as it
would compromise and/or hamper this project.
