Ford, via Communication <br /> No. 1294, dated June 17, 2008 directing the Clerk of the County of Hawaii to take the necessary <br /> action to place the Charter Amendment proposed by Ordinance No. 08-82 on the 2008 General <br /> Election Ballot (relating to Amending Article XIII by Increasing the Criminal Penalty Amount <br /> from $1,000 to an Amount not to Exceed $2,000 and Clarifying the County's Authority <br /> Regarding the Imposition of Civil Fines). <br /> <br /> There was one testimony from the public in opposition to this proposed resolution. <br /> <br /> County Clerk Casey Jarman appeared before your committee to address any concerns related to <br /> this proposed resolution. <br /> <br /> Council member Dominic Yagong asked for clarification from County Clerk Jarman on the <br /> process to inform the public on the proposed charter amendments. County Clerk Jarman stated <br /> that public educational workshops and publication of the full text in two newspapers of general <br /> circulation prior to the 2008 General Election will be provided.
