Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 687-08, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 687-08, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 1298, dated June 18, 2008, authorizes the acceptance of the donation with an estimated total of
$9,650 from Michael Sasaki of Sasaki Monuments. The donation includes a granite sign, matching
stands, stainless steel rods, letter template, sandblasting, installation and freight costs to the
Department of Parks and Recreation for `Alae Cemetery.
Ms. Patricia Engelhard, Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation expressed gratitude to
Mr. Sasaki for the donation.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Sasaki Monuments, Attn. Michael Sasaki, 904 Wainaku
Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 687-08, and
recommends its adoption.
