Dear Ms. Jarman:
Thank you for the information from the Council of the County of Hawaii, informing
me of the County's plans to purchase land at the Pa'o'o Ahupua'a parcel in the District of
Kohala, Tax Map Key 5-7-01.:05. I understand the County considers this property a priority
purchase to preserve cultural and historical sites while still providing recreational
opportunities for the public, and is interested in obtaining financial assistance from the
Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Legacy Lands Conservation Program
(LLCP).
I am informed that State agencies, counties and non-profit land conservation
organizations applying for grant funding from the LLCP must supply 25% of the total project
cost. Please visit the DLNR website at

information of the application and selection process.
Applications will be available on August 1, 2008, with a planned application deadline
of September 15, 2008. Please contact Ms. Molly Schmidt, LLCP Coordinator, at
