Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 901,
and attached Bill No. 268, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 268 is to amend Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5, Section 24-280
(Schedule 28) and 24-281 (Schedule 29) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition)
relating to vehicles and traffic. This measure clarifies the language of Schedule 29 to ensure that
parking is prohibited on the listed streets between the hours set forth in the Code. It also then
corrects the establishment of "no parking at any time" on Kalanianaole Street (Schedule 28).
Communication No. 901 is from Chief Engineer Donna Fay K. Kiyosaki, Department of Public
Works, dated June 25, L998, to amend Ordinance 97-100 and Ordinance 98-32, relating to "no
parking at anytime" and "parking prohibited during certain hours along Kalanianaole Street;'
respectively.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 268; and recommends it
pass first reading.
