Dear Mr. Chung,
My name is Joslyn Tamura and I am the President of the Lehua
Jaycees, representing 151 members in east Hawaii.
The Jaycees are a young persons leadership organization, train-
ing future leaders by doing community service. We support many
local organizations andprograms. One that is very important to
the Lehua Jaycees is our youths in the community.
We have already done two projects this year, working together
with the Hawaii County Policing and the Hawaii Public Nursing.
The first was a Teen Dance, drawing over 130 students to a Drug
Free, Alcohol Free and Gang Free event. It was so successful,
that we prepared another project this past October at Coconut
Island, entitled Island Jam. We have an overwhelming support from
the local businesses for these projects.
With this said, the Lehua Jaycees SUPPORT Resolution.328-98,
Authorizing the County to enter into an agreement for a statewide
Marijuana Eradication Grant.
I was signed up to speak to the Finance Committee, but I had to
return to work. So I have drafted this letter stating our support.
