Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 1327, reports as follows:
Communication No. 1327, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated July 8, 2008, authorizes
the acceptance of following donations:
A monetary donation of $1,000 to the Department of Parks and Recreation, to be used for the purchase of a
bench at the Richardson Ocean Park, in honor of Maury and Molly Zimring, by Mr. Franklin E. Zimring.
A donation of a carpet (with a total estimated value of $798.93) to the Department of Parks and Recreation, to
be installed for use at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Swimming Pool, by Paul's Enterprises LTD.
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, which authorizes the
Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal property, and with (2) Chapter 2,
Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawaii County Code, which states that any donation or gift which does not
fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted to the Council by letter
for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Franklin E. Zimring, 40 Arlmont Drive, Kensington, CA 94707, and
to Paul's Enterprise Ltd., 110 Hualalai Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging these generous donations.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the $1000.00 donation from
Mr. Franklin E. Zimring, and the carpet donation from Paul's Enterprises LTD, and is in accord with the
purpose and intent of Communication No. 1327.
