Communication No. 1276, regarding Resolution 679-08, reports as follows:

Resolution 679-08, transmitted by Council member Dominic Yagong via Communication
1276, dated June 3, 2008 proposing a Resolution Supporting the Hawaii Supreme Court's
Decision to Create an Access to Justice Commission to Assist Low Income Hawaii
Residents in Obtaining Civil Legal Services
There was no testimony from the public on this proposed resolution.

Due to Council member Dominic Yagong's absence, his council aide Steve Offenbacker
provided the Committee with the following information. This matter was brought before
Mr. Yagong by Mr. George Ziebela, a Honoka`a attorney and member of Justice Hui. As j
proposed in this resolution, the Justice Hui is seeking support to continue the remaining
nine points of the ten-step action plan facilitating the expansion of civil legal services to low
income residents of Hawaii. Mr. Offenbacker stated that Mr.'Yagong, and Mr. Ziebel will
be available to answer any questions at the next opportunity this proposed resolution will
be heard.
