RESOLUTION NO. '744 () fi;
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO
A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Police Department's Peer Support Unit is a group of peers trained in
providing support and assistance for work-related problems; and
WHEREAS, the Critical Incident Support Unit consists of Peer Support Unit members
who have received training in counseling and in providing emotional and moral support to law
enforcement officers or emergency services personnel who have been involved in emotionally
traumatic incidents by reason of their employment and are certified and approved by the Police
Chief to respond to critical incidents for the purpose of debriefing and defusing; and
WHEREAS, the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. (ICISF) is
holding a training conference on Oahu on September 25-28, 2008; and
WHEREAS, funds are needed to send four officers who are members of the Peer
Support Unit and the Critical Incident Support Unit to attend this conference to receive
specialized training and to get certified; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to
the Police Department to help covers expenses for accommodations, car rental and per diem;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy of this
resolution to the Chief of Police and the Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
