Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 723-08, reports as follows:

Resolution No. 723-08, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 1375, dated August 6, 2008, authorizes the acceptance of a monetary donation from the
Discovery Harbour Volunteer Fire Fighters in the amount of $1,008.36. The donated funds will
be used to purchase a portable foam system, "Pro/pak," to enhance the Volunteer Fire
Department's suppression capability.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Discovery Harbour Volunteer Fire Fighters,
P. O. Box 993, N5'alehu, Hawaii 96772-0993, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 723-08,
and recommends its adoption.
