Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 856, transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated May 18, ] 998, reports as follows:
The purpose of Communication No. 856 is to recommend the appointment of the following
individual as a member of the Hawaii County Kailua Village Design Commission
Mr. Charles R. Cartwright of Kona, is nominated to fill the vacancy created by the
unexpired term ending December 31, 1999 of Mr. Lloyd S. Nakano of Kona whose
employment required him to move out-of-state.
Mr. Cartwright, of no political affiliation, is a life-time resident of Hawaii. He has been
the President of Big Island Inspection Services since 1987. He has been active with the
Rotary Club, the American Society of Home Inspectors and CAC in Kona.
Pursuant to Article 7, Chapter 25 of the Hawaii County Code, the mayor shall appoint members
to the commission to be confirmed by the Council, as prescribed in Section 25-7-2 of the Hawaii
County Code.
Mr. Cartwright does not foresee potential conflicts as a member of the Kailua Village Design
Commission.
Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointment of Mr. Charles R.
Cartwright to the Hawaii County Kailua Village Design Commission.
