Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 642 transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro dated December 17, 1997, reports as follows:
The purpose of Communication No. 642 is to recommend the appointment of the following
individual as a member of the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency (HRA):
Mr. Harris T. Hirata, of no political affiliation, to fill the vacancy created by the
resignation of Mr. William T. Davis, for a term ending December 31, 1999.
Mr. Hirata, alife-time resident of Hawaii, has been employed as the Executive Vice
President and Chief Operations Officer of Realty Finance, Inc. He is active in
community affairs, having membership to the Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce, the
Hilo Rotary Club, the American Financial Service Association and the Hawaii Financial
Service Association.
Pursuant to Chapter 53 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the members of the HRA shall be
appointed by the the mayor with the approval of the council.
Mr. Hirata was not present at today's meeting; however, Mr. Rudy Legaspi assured Your
Committee that Mr. Hirata would attend the January 16, 1998 Council meeting.
Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointment of Mr. Harris T.
Hirata to the Hawaii County Hawaii Redevelopment Agency.
