Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 632 transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro dated December 11, 1997, reports as follows:
The purpose of Communication No. 632 is to recommend the appointment of the following
individual as a member of the Hawaii County Board of Appeals:
Mr. Wayne A. Easley, a Republican, to fill the vacancy created by the expired term of
Ms. Geraldine M. Griffin of Waimea, for a term ending December 31, 2002.
Mr. Easley, a lifetime resident, has been the owner/president of the Easley Corporation
since 1979.
Pursuant to Section 5-6.3 of the Hawaii County Charter, the mayor shall appoint members to the
Board of Appeals to be confirmed by the Council, as prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii
County Charter.
Several committee members who previously served on the Council with Mr. Easley highly
recommended him for the position.
Mr. Easley was not present at today's meeting; however, Mr. Rudy Legaspi assured Your
Committee that Mr. Easley would attend the January 16, 1998 Council meeting.
Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointment of Mr. Wayne A.
Easley to the Board of Appeals.
