Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 630 transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro dated December 11, 1997, reports as follows:
The purpose of Communication No. 630 is to recommend the appointment of the following
individuals as members of the Hawaii Redevelopment Agency (HRA):
Ms. Aileen Lum, of no political affiliation, to fill the vacancy created by Ms. Janice
Harvey Yee who resigned for personal reasons, for a term ending December 31, 2000.
Ms. Lum, a life-time resident of Hawaii, has been employed as the Court Administrator
of the Judiciary, State of Hawaii since 1987. She recently served as a member of the
Hawaii County Board of Ethics.
Mr. David K. Reed, a Democrat, to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Randolph A. Rohner
whose term expired, for a term ending December 31, 2002.
Mr. Reed, a 40-year resident of Hawaii, has been the owner of Petroglyph Press Ltd.
since 1974.
Pursuant to Chapter 53 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the members of the HRA shall be
appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council.
Both Ms. Lum and Mr. Reed were not present at today's meeting; however, Mr. Rudy Legaspi
assured Your Committee that they both would attend the January 16, 1998 Council meeting.
Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointments of Ms. Aileen Lum
and Mr. David K. Reed to the Hawaii County Hawaii Redevelopment Agency.
