I have reviewed the proposed changes to the laws along with our director of operations and our attorney and we have several serious concerns with both the language and substance of many of these changes. Since the Hawaii Island Humane Society is the agency responsible for enforcing these ordinances it would seem appropriate to allow us a reasonable time period to respond to these proposed changes. I respectfully request that the Finance Committee postpone discussion and any decisions on this bill until we have had an opportunity to fully evaluate the impact these changes may have on our organization and on the community at large.
