RESOLUTION NO. 799 08
A RESOLUTION'CRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIA'1']ON OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDI'I'1NG SAMF,'1'O A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUN'T'(S).
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross is a non-profit agency whose mission is to prevent
and alleviate human suffering by helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies
and providing disaster relief to the people of I-lawai`i every day of the year; and
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross staff and volunteers work very closely with
Hawaii County government and volunteer emergency responders in the community during
disasters; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross is responsible for
managing thirty-four (34) shelters in the County oPFlawai`i, tnost of which are in public schools
during severe weather events (e.g. hurricanes), flooding, evacuations due to brush tires,
hazardous material spill or terroristic threatening; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Civil Defense Agency to provide support to the American Red Cross llawai`i State Chapter
to augment the Disaster Relief Program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED I3Y THE COUNCIL OF'I'HE COiJNTY OE FIAWAI`1 that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set for the below:

Finance is hereby authorized to. make the necessary transfers in accordance witl~ the terms of this
resolution.
