RESOLUTION NO. 806 08
RESOLUTION CREATING AN ACCOUNT CLERK POSITION FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS' TRAFFIC DIVISION
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works' Traffic Division has been encountering an
increased number of mandates, projects, requests, and personnel; along with the establishment of
anew West Hawaii Facility; and
WHEREAS, the Traffic Division is undergoing a re-organization to handle the increased
workload and to improve efficiency; and
WHEREAS, the Traffic Division's Support Section is presently understaffed to handle the
increased workload; and
WHEREAS, cleating a new Account Clerk, SR-11, position will ensure that the Support Staff
Section is able to keep up with the increased demands of the Traffic Division; and
WHEREAS, the new Account Clerk position will assist with accounting, fiscal, and inventory
matters; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the Traffic Division Regular Salaries and Wages
account, 020.281.5281.01.011, to fund this position; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor
has the power to "Create positions...fortyhich appropriations have been made by the council...".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that an Account Clerk, SR-11, position be created for the Department of Public Works' Traffic
Division.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED there are sufficient funds in the Traffic Division Regular
Salaries and Wages account, 020.281.5281.01.011, to fund this position.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the
Departments of Finance, Human Resources, and Public Works.
