Dear Chairman Arakaki and Members of the County Council:
Resolution Authorizing the Office of the Mayor
To Enter into An Agreement to Implement the
Hawaii Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Program
Enclosed for the County Council's consideration is a draft Resolution authorizing the Office
of the Mayor to enter into an agreement for services with the State of Hawaii Department
of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, Office of Planning, to implement the Hawaii
Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Program. This resolution is prepared to comply with Section
46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, which requires the county departments obtain the consent of the
County Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments. Since the County
of Hawaii Planning Department receives funds from the Department of Business, Economic
Development & Tourism on an annual basis, the draft resolution authorizes the Office of the
Mayor to enter into future agreements as funds are made available.
