Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 1477, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 1477, transmitted by William Takaba, Director of Finance, dated
September 22, 2008, authorizes the acceptance of donation of two (2) Krown Research TDD
machines (total estimated value of $40) from Mr. James Churchill to the Hawaii County Police
Department, to be used in their Dispatch Section.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or
gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall
be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. James Churchill, 20684 SW Lavender Avenue,
Sherwood, Oregon 97140, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of two (2) Krown Research TDD
machines (total estimated value of $40) from Mr. James Churchill.
