Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. I I 1-97 transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro via Communication No. 354 dated June 5, 1997, reports as
follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 1 l 1-97 is to name a certain roadway within the Hakalau
Homesteads at Hakalau, South Hilo, Hawaii. This resolution names the following roadway in
Exhibit "A" of this resolution as "Pueo'ihi Road" meaning "honored or respected owl."
Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the Council is
authorized to adopt street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways.
The Planning Commission recommended favorable consideration for the naming of this
roadway.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 111-92 and
recommends its adoption.
