Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 109-97 transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro via Communication No. 352 dated June 5, 1997, reports as
follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 109-97 is to name certain roadways within the W. H. Shipman
Mutual Self-Help Subdivision (SUB 6620) at Keaau, Puna, Hawaii. This resolution names the
following roadways in Exhibit "A" of this resolution as "Haa Street," "Haa Place," and "Kaiewe
Place" which aze named in honor of the Haa Family and the Kaiewe Family.
Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the Council is
authorized to adopt street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways.
The Planning Commission recommended favorable consideration for the naming of the
roadways.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 109-97 and
recommends its adoption.
