Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 108-97 transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro via Communication No. 351 dated June 5, 1997, reports as
follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 108-97 is to name a certain roadway within the Manowaiopae
Homestead Subdivision at Hokumahoe, North Hilo, Hawaii. This resolution names the
following roadway in Exhibit "A" of this resolution as "Hokumahoe Road."
Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the Council is
authorized to adopt street names for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways.
The Planning Commission recommended favorable consideration for the naming of the roadway
and more than sixty percent of the landowners being served by this roadway have agreed to the
name "Hokumahoe Road."
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 10$-97 and
recommends its adoption.
