RESOLUTION NO. 8~.8 08
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDTTING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island is in need of an island wide information resource and
calendaz for festivals and events; and
WHEREAS, there is currently no reliable source for complete Hawaii Island
information on when and what events aze happening; and
WHEREAS, such information is useful to tourists and residents alike, promoting
economic development in all azeas of the Island; and
WHEREAS, a Hawaii Island Festivals and Events Product Development Summit,
through its fiscal sponsor, Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council, seeks to
create a contact database of who is doing what and when, serving as the County and State's
island wide information resource and calendar; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Festivals and Events Product Development Summit will
ultimately become an association, or hui, that puts on regulazly scheduled educational seminazs
and conferences specifically for our Islands' issues; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to be used for the Hawaii Island Festivals and
Events Product Development contact database and the establishment of an association with this
as the objective; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated asset forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forwazd a copy of this
resolution to the Dtrector of Reseazch and Development and the Director of Finance and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
