Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 46 dated December 19,
1996, reports as follows:
The purpose of Communication No. 46 is to recommend the appointment of the following
individual as a member of the Hawaii County Boazd of Appeals:
Mr. Harold T. Tanouyc of Hilo, is nominated to fill the vacancy created by the expired
term of Ms. Stephanie Tabbada of Ka'u, for a term ending December 31, 2001.
Mr. Tanouyc has been with Green Point Nurseries, Inc. since 1977 and is currently its
president. He is the auditor of the Church of the Holy Cross and President of the Hilo Y's
Men Club. He has also once served as a member of the Board of Appeals from July 22,
1992 to May 5. 1993.
Pursuant to Section 5-6.3 of the Hawaii County Charter, the mayor shall appoint members to the
Board of Appeals to be confirmed by the Council, as prescribed in Section 13-4 of the Hawaii
County Charter.
Mr. Tanouyc was not available to answer any questions, but members from Your Committee
who knew Mr. Tanouyc personally had high regards for Mr. Tanouyc to be a very fair,
experienced, capable and strong individual.
Your Committee on Planning recommends the approval of the appointment of Mr. Harold T.
Tanouyc to the Board of Appeals.
