The following summarizes some of the legislation the 2006-2008 Council discussed. It
is not all inclusive, but simply recaps the extensive and varied range of issues the
Council debated.
LEGISLATION APPROVED:
• Community Development Plans for Puna, North/South Kona, North Kohala and
South Kohala.
• Composting Facility at Pu uanahulu.
• Zoning Code amendment to increase to eight, the number of unrelated people in a
`family' unit.
• Concurrency ordinance regarding roads and water.
• Created a new `University District' for zoning.
• Funding for Waikoloa Workforce Housing Project.
• Legislation satisfying the minimum NFIP requirements.
• Added affordable housing requirements for industrial park developments.
• Mohouli-Kumukoa Traffic Signal System.
• Resolution regarding acquisition of Punalu u Beach Park.
• Funding for a variety of Wastewater Treatment Plants, sewer systems and cesspool
replacements.
• Administrative Guidelines for Community Facilities Districts.
• Charter amendment for two Planning Commissions.

• Comprehensive overhaul of storm water management and flood control.

such requirements.
• Creation,of a `superstore' zoning district.

• Kohala shoreline down zoning.
• County-wide Impact Fee.
