Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred Communication
No. 1495, regarding Bill 375, reports as follows:
Bill 375, transmitted by Director of Public Works Bruce McClure, via Communication No. 1495, dated
September 17, 2008 amends Chapter 24, article 10, division 6, section 24-288, schedule 36 (Freight loading
zones), paragraph (c) South Hilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as amended), is
amended by repealing and deleting subparagraph (6), as follows, with the remaining clauses to be
appropriately renumbered:

Council member Bob Jacobson made a motion on October 21, 2008 to postpone consideration of Bill 375
until November 6, 2008. This motion was duly seconded and approved.
Department of Public Works Traffic Division Chief Ron Thiel appeared before your committee and
commented that the intent of this amendment is based on the changing parking needs of Downtown Hilo.
There was no testimony from the public on this proposed bill.
Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations is in accord with [he purpose and intent
of Bill 375, and recommends its passage on first reading.
