Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred Communication
No. 1496, regarding Bill 376, reports as follows:
Bill 376, transmitted by Director of Public Works Bruce McClure, via Communication No. 1496, dated
September 17, 2008 amends Chapter 24, article 10, division 5, section 24-280, schedule 28 (No parking at
any time), paragraph (c), South Hilo, subparagraph (127), of the Hawaii County Code,l983 (2005 Edition,
as amended), is amended to read as follows:
"(127) Pauahi Street, Puna side, [ -
~±fesHe+rand] from Kamehameha Avenue for a distance of two hundred
fifry feet in the mauka direction."
Council member Bob Jacobson made a motion on October 21, 2008 to postpone consideration of Bill 376
until November 6, 2008.. This motion was duly seconded and approved.
Department of Public Works Traffic Division Chief Ron Thiel appeared before your committee and
commented that the intent of this amendment is to update the Hawaii County Code and to be consistent
with the existing conditions along Pauahi Street.
There was no testimony from the public on this proposed bill.
Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Bill 376, and recommends its passage on first reading.
