Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 296, reports as follows:
Bill No. 296, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication No. 986, dated
September 8, 1998, amends Ordinance No. 98-50, as amended, the Capital Budget ending June 3Q 1999,
by adding the following project:
PUBLIC WORKS
Saddle Road/Kaumana Drive Curve Improvement $500,000
(110-399-5391.04-L15)
Funds for this project shall be provided fram:
General Obligation Bonds, Capital Projects Fund, Fund Balance and/or other sources $500,000
A large number of accidents along Saddle Road/Kaumana Drive have been attributed to the numerous
roadway curves. Although many of the accidents may have been prevented by attentiveness to street
signs and speed limits, improving the geometries and friction coefficient of the curve will reduce the risk
to motorists.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 296 and recommends it
pass first reading.
