Aloha Council members-
As someone who has frequently attended council meetings and often testified, I hope you will not make
people wait around to be asked questions by Council Members until the reading occurs. It is very
difficult for members of the public to take time from work to attend these meetings. If you then ask them
to wait possibly all day for the issue to be heard, you will discourage people from testifying at all. If
arguments or debates ensue, isn't it up to the discretion of the Chair to cut this short? In addition,
testifiers are often very nervous, and it is very helpful to have a kindly council person ask a question
when we may have forgotten something important.
Public testimony is THE most important part of the PUBLIC testimony. Please allow as many people in
the most complete way possible to participate in OUR government.
