Subject: : Comment on New Council Rules - Meeting Monday 3pm
Dear Chairman Yoshimoto, `.QIJI`'~~T~ 4-{
Please do not institute the "no questions" rule that you've suggested for Council meeting
testimony. This will unduly limit public fact-finding and seems to introduce an
undemocratic element into Council proceedings. Public citizens who come to testify at
meetings usually have other commitments during the day, as you don't hold meetings on the
weekends. To ask those who testify to stay longer than necessary in order to answer
questions at the end of all the testimony is an undue burden on citizens who are already
taking time out to participate in the democratic process.
PLEASE RECONSIDER AND DO NOT IMPLEMENT THIS RULE.
Mahalo for your consideration of this request, Betsy Cole Pa'auilo
