Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 295-98, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 295-98, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 917, dated July 9, 1998, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Chevron
Companies.
The Chevron Companies has graciously donated two sets of Keiki ].D. equipmenC consisting of a
camera, laminator, and die cutter for use by the Hawaii County Community Policing Teams in
East and West Hawaii. The retail value of the equipment is three thousand dollars ($3,000).
Pursuant to Article XII[, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of the
county, may accept gifts of donations of personal property.
Your Committee an Financc is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 295-98
and recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be
sent to Mr. Dave Young, Public Affairs Manager, Chevron Companies, at 1001 Bishop Street,
Pauahi Tower, Suite 1000, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813.
