Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 244, reports as follows:
Bill No. 244, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 268-98 by Finance Director Harry Takahashi,
via Communication No. 838, dated May 1, 1998, amends Ordinance No. 97-83, the Operating
Budget, as amended, ending June 30, 1998, as follows:

These funds will be used to train the Hawaii County Police Department's first line supervisors and
detectives on domestic violence and sexual assault investigations, as well as provide supplies such
as 35mm cameras and video tapes to help with training and investigations. Training will also be
provided to increase the number of sexual assault nurse examiners.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 244 and
recommends it pass first reading.
