Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 264-98, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 264-98, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 231 by Finance Director Harry
Takahashi, dated Apri122, 1998, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into an agreement
with the Organized Crime Enforcement Task Force through the Drug Enforcement
Administration.
The Organized Crime Enforcement Task Force through the Drug Enforcement Administration is
desirous of providing funding for expenses for overtime and travel costs incurred during specific
investigations and prosecutions.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Federal government may enter into
agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing the expenditures or receipt of
funds or for other assistance. The Mayor is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the name
of the County Project Number PA-HI-028, which will effectuate these purposes.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 264-98
and recommends its adoption.
