Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 263-98, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 263-98, transmitted by Council Member John Ray, via Communication No. 818,
dated Apri123, 1998, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Dr. and Mrs. Billy Bergin.
Dr. and Mrs. Billy Bergin has graciously donated five bleachers to be housed and maintained at
the Waimea soccer field for County use and for use for future Old Hawaii on Horseback
pageants. The retail value of the five bleachers is seven thousand five hundred dollars. ($7,500).
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of t11e
County, may accept gifts of donations or personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 263-98
and recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be
sent to Dr. and Mrs. Billy Bergin, at 62-2279 B. Kanehoa Drive, Kaznuela, Hawaii 96743.
