I support the confirmation of Lincoln S. Ashida as the Corporation Counsel for the
County of Hawaii.
I have known Lincoln Ashida as a law clerk, Deputy Prosecuting Attome}' and as uur
Corporation Counse] under former Mayor Harry Kim.
I have always found him to be professional and responsive to oux requests for assistance
on civil legal matters.
Lincoln has demonstrated a sound abilih~ to mana¢e the Department ofthe Corporation
Counsel for the County of Hawaii and has instituted improvements to the Department. F(e
took the lead in developing an imaging system that has enhanced the ability of the.
Department to be more effective in its representation of the County of IIawaii.
He has also taken a lead role in providing a forum for the disco.>sion of di1T'icult local
issues facing both the County and State through various conferences. These issues have
ranged from indemnification to water quality. Our office has been able to participate in
these conferences to gain knowledge on various legal issues and to train on the County`s
:mag:ng program.
These are just a few of the reasons I support the confirmation oz Lincoln S. Ashida as the
Corporation Counsel fur the County of Hawaii.
