Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 257-98, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 257-98, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 797, dated April 7, 1998, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into an agreement with
the State Department of Human Services, Office of Youth Service for a grant to provide funding
to further the education of Drug Abuse Resistance Education officers employed by the Hawaii
County Police Department.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Federal government may enter into
agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing the expenditures or receipt of
funds or for other assistance.
The Mayor is hereby authorizes and designated to sign in the name of the County Project
Number DHS-98-OYS-6337. which will effectuate these purposes.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 257-98
and recommends its adoption.
