Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 256-98, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 256-98, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 796, dated April 7, 1998, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Mr. Denny D.
Diclanson.
Mr. Denny D. Dickenson has graciously donated two cellulaz phones with atwo-yeaz service
plan and sixteen hooded sweatshirts to the County of Hawaii Department of Pazks and
Recreation for use by lifeguazds at the Kahalu'u and White Sand Beaches.
The value of the two, two-yeaz cellular service plans is ($1,107.84) one thousand one hundred
seven dollazs and eighty-four cents. The value of the donated sweatshirts is ($378.55) three
hundred seventy eight dollars and fifty-five cents.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts of donations of personal property.
A second draft of Resolution No. 256-98 was submitted to clarify the value of $1,107.84 was for
the two, two-year cellulaz service plans instead of the cellulaz phones which were of no
additional cost to the donator.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 256-98,
Draft 2' and recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of
appreciation be sent to Mr. Denny D. Dickenson at 78-6852 Kuhinanui Street, Kailua-Kona,
Hawaii 96740.
