Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 18-09, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 18-09, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 31,
dated 12(2/2008, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Finishing Touches Interiors of a desk
valued at $1,200 to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County,
may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Finishing Touches Interiors, acknowledging this generous
donation.
Councilmember Hoffmann questioned the dollar amount assigned to the desk being donated, indicating it
seemed like an excessive amount.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 18-09, and
recommends its adoption.
