Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 253, reports as follows,
Resolution No. 253, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 783, dated Mazch 31, 1998, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Hawaii Recreation
and Park Association.
Hawaii Recreation and Park Association has graciously donated $2,000 to the Department of
Pazks and Recreation to provide a Summer Fun Scholazship Program for needy and
disadvantaged children in the Hamakua and Ka'u Districts.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of the
county, may accept gifts of donations of personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 253 and
recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be sent
to Sam Lankford, Ph.D., President, Hawaii Recreation and Park Association, at P.O. Box 22214,
Honolulu, Hawaii 96823-2214.
