Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 231, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 231, transmitted by Police Chief Wayne Carvalho, via Communication No. 722,
dated February 11, 1998, authorizes the acceptance of bicycle equipment from the Rotary Club
of Kona.
The Rotary Club of Kona has graciously donated two backracks, two rack trunks, two taillights,
two sensors, two mini pumps, two water bottles with cages, two halogen headlights, three vapor
helmets, and three "Police" decals to the Hawaii County Police Department for use by the West
Hawaii Community Policing Program. The aforementioned bike equipment is collectively
valued at $279.40.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts of donations or personal property.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 231 and
recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be sent
to Ms. Tina Clothier, President, Rotary Club of Kona.
