No. 230 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 11:00 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 230, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 230, transmitted by Chief Engineer Donna Kiyosaki, via Communication <br /> <br /> No. 720, dated February 9, 1998, authorizes multi-year funding for the statewide wastewater <br /> treatment works operator training facility. <br /> Pursuant to Section 44, Act 216, 1987 Hawaii Session Laws, the Legislature appropriated funds <br /> to the State Department of Health to administer a statewide wastewater treatment operator <br /> training facility under the condition that the counties fund a portion of the operating costs. In <br /> addition, the US Environmental Protection Agency awazded a grant of $500,000. <br /> The Department of Health is now desirous to obtain the required funding from the counties. The <br /> County of Hawaii's share of the maintenance and operation charges would be fourteen percent <br /> (14%) of sixty percent (60%) of the facility's projected operating budget which will not exceed <br /> $142,500, and annual increases of the budget shall not exceed ten percent (10%). <br /> Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawaii County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation <br /> requiring the payment of funds from an appropriation of a later fiscal year or more than one <br /> fiscal year shall be made or approved by resolution. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 230 and <br /> recommends its adoption. <br /> lkc <br /> Ayes Noei A&E EX <br /> Respectfully submitted <br /> CHUNG X <br /> LEITHEAD-TODD X COMMITTEE O/N~FINANCE <br /> SANTANGELO X X L t ~ ~ / <br /> SMITH X <br /> TYLER X AARON S.Y.
