Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 220, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 220, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 679, dated Januazy 15, 1998, creates a Clerk position for the Mass Transit Agency.
Currently, Mass Transit has a total of five employees, including the Transit Administrator,
Transit Assistant, Clerk Typist and two mechanics. By creating a Clerk position to aid in
compiling statistics, answering the telephone, selling bus tickets and coupons, and assisting the
public, the Transit Assistant would be able to devote more time to operational activities.
Resolution No. 220 further transfers $7,875.00 from the Mass Transit Agency Rental/Lease of
Equipment Account No. 010-311-5311.02-111 into the Mass Transit Agency Regulaz Salazies
and Wages Account No. 010-311-5311.01-011 to cover the cost of the additional employee.
Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor has the power to
create positions for which appropriations have been made by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 220 and
recommends its adoption.
