I am submitting written testimony on my behalf as a recognized cultural descendant in support of the La'ipala Makai project proposed to be developed in the ahupua'a of Kapalaalaea in Kailua-Kona. The La'ipala Makai project has taken the initiative to involve a team of lineal/cultural descendants and cultural practitioners in the planning of this project. The project has also exhibited their support of the protection, perpetuation and practice of the Native Hawaiian culture and the natural, historical, and cultural resources within the project area to include incorporating street names with historical and cultural elements of the area. What is also impressive is that the project is providing affordable housing with sustainable designs and environmentally friendly practices during construction. Mahalo for the opportunity to submit testimony in support of the La'ipala Makai project. Sincerely, Kareen Medeiros I Comm. No. f~ 2 • - titi P~~t+t ti Ref. TO Ref. Date a7 s-
