RESOLl:JTION
AMENDS RESOLUTION 13-96 BY AMENDING RULE 1(1), ENTITLED "COUNCIL
MEETINGS" AND RULE 4(1), ENTITLED "PRESIDING OFFICER" OF THE RULES
OF PROCEDURE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII RELATING TO
OFFICERS AND THEIR DUTIES.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Section 1, entitled "Council Meetings" of Rule land
Section 1, entitled "Presiding Officer", of Rule 4, of the Rules of
Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii are hereby amended
to read:
Rule 1(1) "The council shall hold regular meetings for the
transaction of business in the County Councilroom on the first and
third Wednedsay of each month or on the following day if such
Wednesday be a pUblic holiday."
Rule 4(1) "Presiding Officer. The chairperson of the council
shall be the presiding officer of the council. [In the absence of
the chairperson, the vice chairperson shall preside. In the absence
of the vice-chairperson, the chairperson of the Committee on Finance
shall preside and] The Chair shall have the right to vote as other
members[i]~ [however,] ~hen the chairperson is temporarily unable to
perform his/her duties, the vice-chairperson shall have all the
powers and be subject to all the duties of such chairperson. In the
absence of the chairperson and vice chairperson. the council shall
elect from amona its members a temporary presidina officer."' '
