RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING LEASE PURCHASE FOR EIGHT (8) VEHICLES FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any
contract, lease, or other obligation requiring payment of funds from
the appropriations of a later fiscal year or more than one fiscal
year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, Building Custodian I positions in the Recreation
Division of the Department of Parks & Recreation have been
reallocated to Park Caretaker I positions and moved- to the Parks
Maintenance Division; and.
WHEREAS, as the park caretakers must maintain more than a single
park, vehicles must be provided to transport personnel, materials
and supplies from park to park; and
WHEREAS, a new Pool Pump Mechanic/Electrician position has been
approved to service the island-wide pool needs and requires a motor
vehicle; and
WHEREAS, the Tractor Mower Operator based at the North Hilo
baseyard, presently being dropped off and picked up, is in need of a
vehicle in order to transport the tractor mower; and
WHEREAS, the vehicle presently assigned to the administration
office is unreliable and in need of replacement; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a five (5) year
contract to lease with purchase options for eight (8) vehicles for
parkS purposes.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII hereby authorizes the Mayor to negotiate a five (5) year
lease agreement with purchase options for the acquisition of eight
(8) vehicles for parks operations islandwide.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this
resolution to the Mayor's Office and the Departments of Finance and
Parks & Recreation.
