RE: Confirmation of Lincoln Ashida, Corporation Counsel
It is a privilege to submit this letter in support of the confirmation of Mr. Lincoln Ashida
as Corporation Counsel for the County of Hawaii.
I am currently a Legal Clerk at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, and I have had
the honor of working with Mr. Ashida in his capacity as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in
our office, prior to his appointment as Corporation Counsel under former Mayor Harry
Kim's Administration.
I have worked with Mr. Ashida for approximately two (2) years. In the short period that
I have worked with him, his respectfulness, dedication and professionalism were truly
evident in every aspect of his work ethics. He handled many victim-sensitive cases as
well as high profile cases in our office, and he handled them with compassion and
diligence.
Mr. Ashida also assumed a supervisory role in our office, and I believe he demonstrated
the qualities of a respectable leader. He projected the confidence and the courage to
make tough decisions, when it was necessary, but also had the thoughtfulness and
humility to listen to the needs of others. He always had an "open-door" policy which
impressed upon me and other fellow employees the sense of open communication.
Mr. Ashida's loyalty and commitment as a civil servant is truly undeniable. He manages
to take on every challenge with due care and always strives to do his best. For all of the
reasons I have stated, I have faith that he will continue to bring forth integrity and a
sense of trust in our local government.
