RESOLUTION NO. 8 4 97
RESOLUTION INCREASING TIME ELEMENT OF RECREATION TECHNICIAN II 2/5T
AND CREATING TWO (2) RECREATION TECHNICIAN II 2/5T POSITIONS FOR
KONA GYM.
WHEREAS, with the increased use of the Kona Gym and the
Administration's request to open on the weekends, the need to have
additional staffing and additional hours is crucial; and
WHEREAS, unlike other gyms, the Kona Sports Complex will house
additional ballfields, a roller-hockey arena, and a soccer/football
combination field; and
WHEREAS, the community has requested that the operational hours
for the complex be extended for morning, evening, and weekend use;
and
WHEREAS, current staffing of one (1) full-time and one (1) 2/5
time (16 hours) is inadequate to handle the man-hours needed to
address the schedule; and
WHEREAS, by increasing the time element of the Recreation
Technician II 2/5T, Position No. 3142, to Recreation Technician II
3/4T and by creating two (2) Recreation Technician II 2/5T, the Kona
Complex will have adequate staff coverage seven (7) days a week; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds in the regular salaries and
wages account of the Department of Parks & Recreation, Recreation
Division, to cover the cost of the additional time element and the
two (2) additional Recreation Technician II 2/5T positions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Position No. 3142, Recreation Technician II 2/5T, SR 11,
be changed to Recreation Technician II 3/4T, and that two (2)
Recreation Technician II 2/5T, SR 11, positions be created.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds are available in
010-507-5507.01-011, Parks & Recreation, Recreation Division's
Regular Salaries and Wages account.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Departments of Parks & Recreation, Finance and
Civil Service.
